WRECKS IN THE SICILIAN CHANNEL-PART 3-LANDING SHIP HMS LST-429
Here we are again in the Sicilian Channel, where our research activity continued unabated. We are happy to share with you the results of the last expedition that led to the realization of photographic material useful for the concrete identification and for the evaluation of the conditions of the landing ship HMS LST-429.
The landing ship HMS LST-429, class LST-1 MK2, was born under the American flag at Bethlehem-Fairfield Shipyard Inc. of Baltimore in 1942. It was launched on 11 January 1943 and never entered service for the United States as it immediately transferred to the British Royal Navy.
In July 1943 he sank in the Sicilian channel due to a fire.
